We shopped. We ate. And we spent two straight days at Six Flags.
Now, if you'll remember, we took the girls to Six Flags one day last fall, and had so much fun that we bought season tickets to Six Flags for the four of us last fall. Michael and I have been since then, but this was our first chance to go as a family.
Last fall when we went, Katie Beth was a little frightened of any ride that actually left the ground. She wouldn't even ride the Gun Slinger, for Pete's sake! And I can't say I blame her; it terrified me as a child too. But this time?
Katie Beth was bad to the bone. Fearless. Afraid of NOTHING. BAD, I tell you! It may or may not have helped her along when we
The Gun Slinger was ten points. The Bobsled? Twenty. But the BIG, SCARY RIDES? Mr. Freeze? The Titan? The Texas Giant? ONE. HUNDRED. POINTS.
What can I say... the girl was motivated to get her hamster, I was motivated to help her overcome her fears, and my timid girl who was afraid to leave the ground six months ago rode THE TEXAS GIANT. Oh yeah, baby...
The line was miles long, so we had hours to think about what we were getting into... Katie Beth may or may not have whimpered a few times. But she kept her eyes on the {hamster} prize. Then the closer we got to the front of the line, she started playing the "I HAVE TO USE THE BATHROOM!!!!" card... funny, she *had* to use the bathroom before all the scary rides... we didn't fall for it.
When you ride with Michael, nothing will do but the front car on a roller coaster. Michael said when the car started rolling, she began whimpering, then got quiet and with mournful eyes said, "Well, at least I told mommy goodbye first...."
Annie and I watched from the safety of the walkway {Annie was scared, and I was pregnant} as they plummeted at break-neck speed, and my heart plummeted right along with her... and I couldn't help but think, MY POOR BABY! WHAT HAVE I DONE TO HER?!?!
... but then the ride came to an end and it was all ok.
The best part of all? She got enough points to get her hamster. Way to go, Katie Beth.

How is it that every weekend just gets better? Just when I think we've had all the fun we can possibly have, we have and even BETTER time! I'm glad you let me marry you and have you and your girls. Can't wait for Conan to be born so he can join the fun! We may have to leave him in the 'loose articles' bins for the first few years while we ride the big stuff, but I'm sure he'll be in the front seat with me as soon as he's tall enough! ;)
And yes, Katie Beth did great! I think that was the biggest self-esteem boost she's had in a long time. She overcame a lot of fears in just two days!
