Hey there! Thanks for stopping by!
I’m Melissa, Jesus follower, Plexus ambassador, mom to three girls.
I love old houses with glass doorknobs and hardwood floors, remodeling, decorating, and laughing a lot. If you’re dying to know about all my other quirks, weirdness, and random facts, check out my list of 39 Things About Me.
I started this blog in 2007 to document a TINY little remodeling project, a crumbling 1928 colonial house in our city’s historic district, (which, as it turns out wasn’t a tiny project at all…) but this blog somehow morphed into the story of us. You can read more about the Blue House that started it all, here.
Meet Katie, my beautiful firstborn. She’s my artistic child who is a true picture of ‘the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit.’
Katie loves animals, volleyball, and monograms. She’s already making plans to go to Texas A&M to be a vet, and she’ll be awesome at it since she’s been training from the time she was a toddler.
This is Annie, my big-hearted child who LOVES people. She’s the life of the party and quick-witted and is always saying things that make us laugh.
She also loves singing, dancing, karaoke, and reading, and has turned her bedroom into a classroom where she teaches school every day. Annie has a brain tumor story, but God is in control and we’re not afraid. You can read her tumor story here.
And last but not least, our Susie Joy. She’s exuberant, rambunctious, and energetic, which is exactly what I needed as I head into my 40s: a loud, energetic toddler. Seriously, God knew we needed this child, and she’s a joy and a delight and the whole family’s favorite toy.
Susie loves mud, outside, jumping, running, climbing, and mud. Did I mention mud?
Thanks for being a part of our world!
