In no particular order, some pictures from my family birthday party last Thursday at my parents’ house…
There was cake…The Black and White Cake from Village Bakery. Yum.
Micah, dressed to party, and as we all know party attire includes a tiara and a silk dress.
Sweet Katie.
The food… Hickory Fare barbecue. It was so good I almost died.
And mom’s homemade potato salad.
And fruit salad.
And the cake…
Sweet Annie. I bet she wishes she would have thought to wear a silk dress and a tiara.
Aunt Meredith. Or FufFuf, as the kids call her, from back in the day when Katie Beth couldn’t say ‘Meredith.’
I knew I had to sneak a picture of these three, because they’d never willingly just let me TAKE one…
Did I mention Black and White cake?
The baby.
It wouldn’t be a family function without some sort of Feats of Strength, usually involving some sort of Hot Pepper Challenge.
Issuing the pepper challenge. Something about grinding up the seeds and snorting them… but only if you’re a REAL man.
Pawpaw wasn’t afraid. He’s had stronger peppers in his eye.
The kids play with toys we had when we were kids.
Jesse and the 1970s Little People house.
Sweet Joshua.
Festivus isn’t over until someone eats the pepper. Or snorts it up their nose, whatever the case may be.
Did I mention Black and White cake?
The piano.
Smiling, happy people.
And cake. Yummy cake!

That looks like so much fun! I think maybe _I'll_ even try turning 40 in a few years.
LOVE LOVE Village Bakery black/white cake!! YUM!
Your folks house is so lovely! Now I know where you got your sense of style. And my kids have that Fisher Price house too. Wonder where they got it because *I* am certainly not old enough to have one…
