Hi, my name is Melissa and I make hair bows for a living!
I started making them in 2002 when my now-twelve-year-old was a baby, because I wanted one to match every outfit and I figured I was crafty enough to make them. I was working at the BEST little childrens’ clothing store at the time (still work there, actually…), and so just for fun, I stuck a few of my bows out on the rack and they sold instantly. So I put a few more, and they sold as fast as I could make them.
I figured people liked them, and that led to making them for more stores, until they were carried by Storkland for you local people; Snug as a Bug; Nana Bananaz… then stores in Houston and a couple of other towns across Texas, and now Fickle Baby, as well as my own Etsy store and Facebook page.
I like to think my bows are better than most, because they’re wired and glued to NOT fall apart; they’re heat-treated on the ends so they will NOT fray (you can even wash them in the washing machine), and I use the BEST ribbon made in the USA. They are ALL symmetrical because I measure each and every one, and uniform so that every single one looks exactly like the others.
Yes, you can find cheap bows out there; I’ve bought them. They fray. They fall apart. They are sloppy and homemade looking. The $1 bows HAVE to be made in third-world countries by children slaving in a sweat shop, for THAT price. You get what you pay for…
These are my solid-color grosgrain bows and the sizes they come in!

Here in Texas, the Annie bow is a ‘medium’ bow. We like ’em big here, y’all… Comes on a 70mm French Clip barrette. |

The Katie bow is my biggest bow… mostly. 😉 I CAN make one bigger, but this is the ‘large’ I keep in stock! Comes on an 80mm French Clip barrette. |

My ‘large toddler’ bow… perfect for my one-year-old, ‘Susie’… or her 12-year-old big sister. Comes on an alligator clip. |
