BIG. NEWS: We have a SUPER COOL AND FABULOUS NEW GROCERY STORE in town!!
So a couple of weeks ago, what with our new grocery store opening and all, and us being the fun and hip chicks who are ALWAYS down with the fun, my BFF and I decided to go check it out. And while we were there, strolling around happily enjoying ourselves, and laughing hysterically about anything and nothing like we always do, and calling each other Pam and Denise ’cause its one of our silly inside jokes, and gawking at the huge selection of fresh flowers and the organic stuff and just oohing and aahing over the coolness of it all…
I won’t go into any details.
But trust me on that… we were accosted, TOTALLY unprovoked and for no good reason, and when I say I will NEVER forget my first trip to Fresh, its because we decided it would be for the best if we cut our much-anticipated trip short and slipped out the back door, and so we did just that, with all the cunning and stealth of two hysterical blonde ninjas breathlessly clicking along as fast as our high-heeled shoes would carry us.
It wasn’t the first time the two of us had narrowly escaped danger, by ANY means… I’m just sayin’… we’re blonde, and through no fault of our own, trouble just gravitates our direction when we’re together…
… and one day I may just put some of our better ‘narrowly escaping danger’ stories on the blog…
…but I think this one was the most memorable.
Fast forward to later that evening (and the point of this story).
My friend told her husband. Who loaded up three of his buddies and went to settle the situation that had happened to us at Fresh.
Nobody yelled, hit, or fought, but a message was very calmly delivered, and the message was that his wife was not to be messed with.
There are two sides to this story, of course, but the important thing here is that I think that’s a guy who should be admired… that guy, AND his three friends who went along to get his back. They handled the situation in a completely Biblical way. And his woman felt safe and loved.
And THAT is a real man.
My friend is a lucky woman. Well, NOT LUCKY, because she’s actually pretty much fabulous and gorgeous inside AND out and deserves the very best of EVERYTHING life has to offer, so she’s beyond deserving of a great guy who takes care of her.
Just that night, she was praying with me and for me and encouraging me to pray for my future and make a list of what I want for myself in the days to come.
I don’t know what my future holds, if I’ll get married again or if I won’t, but I do know there’ll always be bullies. I know I can handle the bullies myself, but I think I speak for all women when I say… forget women’s lib. There’s nothing more attractive than a knight in shining armour who’s willing to step up and handle the bullies for us.
