A Great Big Day.

Melissa Beene Ford/ Annie+ Katie

Our day began like any other…

With oatmeal…

And bed hair…

But it wasn’t any other day. This was the day we’ve waited for forever….
The day we longed for almost as much as Christmas.  Well, Annie at least; to KB it was …just school. And as a fourth grader she’s been there, done that.
But for Annie? Well, she FINALLY got to load up that much-longed-for Littlest Pet Shop backpack filled with all those yummy new school supplies…
And make that walk into the magical world called… school.
Like a big girl. A big girl with her own backpack.
Like she’s been watching her sister do for the past five years.
She got a fabulous teacher who loved her already…
and her own spot at the yellow table.
Her big sister wasn’t so enthused.
Mom: “Kate! Smile! Smile, Kate! HEY! Want me to get a picture of you with your teacher?!”

Katie, stricken and horrified: “MOM! You are, like, TOTALLY embarrassing me.”

She didn’t really say that, but she was thinking it. I could tell.

And then her friends arrived.
And her lifelong BFF had a seat right next to hers! Hopefully they’re mature enough to handle it and won’t get sent to time out like that time in the four-year-old class….

On the way back downstairs I stopped back by the kindergarten class just to see how Annie was coping.

And there was only the most minimal wailing and tears in the kindergarten room. It wasn’t so bad, really.

But I dried it up pretty quickly.
Don’t worry about me… I’ll be fine.

Awwww! Glad you were able to dry the tears. For me, all went great, as you said, "Been there done that." We took the kids out to dinner to celebrate last night. This is a tradition with Val, me and the kids.
