I’d always heard rumors of people whose cancer was cured by drinking carrot juice.
And like everything else good-for-you, I’ve done it haphazardly….let’s face it, there are several steps involved in making fresh carrot juice. And then there’s that infernal juicer to clean…. But I’ve read a few things lately that have renewed my dedication to juicing, even if I have to get up 30 minutes earlier to do it….its THAT important!
My Prescription for Natural Healing book says that,
Fresh vegetable juices are restorers and builders. They boost the immune system, remove acid wastes, and balance the metabolism. They also aid in the control of obesity by removing excess body fat.
It goes on to list the most healthful and delicious of the vegetables, and especially carrot juice:
Carrot juice is probably the most popular of the juices and is packed with carotenoids, including beta-carotene, the vitamin A precursor that helps fight cancer.
…Among two whole pages of other good info and recipes that I won’t take the time to repeat word for word here. 🙂 The Prescription for Nutritional Healing is readily available at any book or health food store, and its a good one I peruse on a weekly basis.
But really, it was an email from my friend Rikki that convinced me that juicing was something I had to begin doing faithfully, every day!
Another staple that keeps us healthy is that we juice everyday. In every Herbal and Nutrition book I have read it stresses the importance of juicing when trying to heal your body of something serious. Dr. Schulze would refuse to see his patients for a 2nd visit if they hadn’t bought a juicer. It is just THAT important! And let me tell you why… 🙂
Been a while since I’ve talked about juicing but I will try and remember the important stuff! Okay from what I can remember — If you were to feed a non-healthy person, maybe an elderly person with cancer – a lot of raw veggies, because of how difficult some veggies can be to digest, they would only assimilate and use like 5% of the vitamins and nutrients! And even a really healthy person would only assimilate 35% of the nutrients! BUT — if you juice the same amount of veggies, both the extremely sick, AND the super healthy person would assimilate 96% of the nutrients, and it would be assimilated IMMEDIATELY in the bloodstream! This was SO AMAZING to me! I also remember Dr. Schulze saying that people who have serious diseases most of the time have toxins, etc in their blood. When you juice a quart of juice a day (for an adult of course) within 3 days all of their blood is replaced! it is like a blood transfusion! A note to remember though – it really needs to be consumed within 15 minutes of juicing, that is when all the enzymes are still alive, etc.
So today began Day One of our Daily Juicing of the Vegetables. 🙂
And Annie helped.
I’ve found that everything tastes better to kids if they help make it.
The juicer I have is safe for children to use, with my supervision of course, and Annie loves feeding the carrots into the juicer.
Yummy….carrot juice! *Made with organic carrots, of course.
Annie was so proud that she made it herself, and drank every drop.
I think it helps that she has not had any sugar in days, so carrot juice tastes naturally sweet without that taste of table sugar corrupting her tastebuds. (That’s the subject of another post….’cut out sugar’….coming soon…)
This is my juicer. Its an heirloom that has been in the family for generations.
Seriously, its at least 20 years old, made by Champion, and I was lucky enough to score this one as a gift, second-hand. I love my Champion juicer and would *highly* recommend it. Its very powerful, and judging by my own experience with it, you will definitely get your money’s worth out of it for YEARS to come!
I can rest assured knowing Annie started her Saturday with her little system flooded with enzymes and vitamins instead of the customary Saturday morning donut.
As for Hubby…..that’s a different story.
Carrot juice is wonderful stuff.

I just stumbled onto your blog from Pioneer Woman. I *never* click thru on anyone, so I’m a little surprised, but the Blue House Girl thing intrigued me.

Or it’s God’s will.

I saw the word "tumor" and ended up reading about your very painful situation and decision. And I just want to say… I’m with you.

You and your
That’s great. Keep up the good work! You are encouraging me. We had our first house guests tonight and they brough cupcakes. Merrae was up til almost midnight because of it. I couldn’t believe it. I’ve got to get that girl to have more healthy things to eat. It’s so easy to slip into too many sweets. Proud of you and I’m excited to see how God may use this to help Annie….and others.
Great info, Melissa! I struggle so much with Jackson's diet- he's extremely picky & has a very low appetite. We've recently decided to try Juice Plus, at my doctor's recommendation. Here's the website, if you want to look into it: jmauldinmd.com.
That's great info about the percentages – I didn't know that. Wow. I should juice more. I wish I had the discipline to make the dietary changes you have. Is the whole family in on it? I was leaving wtmf when Annie had her first trip to Dallas and I lost all my blog links and never followed up. So sad. I'm so happy for the positives though. I'll for sure be praying and
