I’m not feeling very good. My throat hurts, my head weighs 100 pounds, and all I wanted to do last night was SLEEP.

And then a circus commenced in the top bunk in the girls’ bedroom at around 1:30 this morning. And because it was a happy, belly-laughing circus, I let it carry on, thinking surely they’d let me sleep in this morning.

This morning, they DID let me sleep in, and I awoke to the sound of the toaster ding-ing… which made me happy, because it was the sound of my sweet darlings not bothering me so I could sleep in.

And then…a knock on my bedroom door, and in they came with…

Breakfast!

That they had assembled themselves, just for me.

With white bread and the contents of our cake-decorating cabinet. There was toast with sprinkles, toast with decorating gel, and toast with “Good morning mommy” spelled out in edible markers.

And chocolate milk. And a pirate napkin.

And for dessert? Cinnamon applesauce, Spongebob Squarepants yogurt, fruit snacks and…. a tootsie roll. They thought of everything!
