I was perusing some old blog posts this morning in search of old pictures of my kids. What with the crash of my old computer last year, I can’t get to thousands of pictures from my past. Thankfully, a lot of them are here.
And this old blog post made me smile.
Annie is now 5 going on 16, and her choice in underpants has matured accordingly. We no longer have this ‘foyer’ and the crisis* of how to decorate it(*my definition of ‘crisis’ has since matured as well) , and her cousin Joshua no longer calls her Baby A (the nickname that stuck for a while)…. but its fun to relive the memories. Enjoy!
So this morning as I was getting ready to take Baby A to school, she found a new place to wait for me.
And I had to take a picture because it was so darn cute, because I got a new camera (though not the one I really, really want, this one is really good for now), and because one day when she’s 6′ tall I’ll look at this table and remember that once upon a time she used to be able to sit in it. And be sad.
But then I saw this picture and noticed how sad my entry way looks (or ‘foyer,’ pronounced ‘foy-yay,’ if you want to be sophisticated) and realized that I really need to do something about this space and I’m at a total loss here. How do you decorate an entry way?
I have a sad little WalMart vase with sticks in it, and a pedestal with a 90% melted candle sitting on top.
The table, I scored for $49 when Bombay Co. was going out of business, and while its not the most beautiful table in the world…..$49. You can’t beat $49.
The mirror I bought at Canton 10+ years ago and my friend Stephanie helped me haul the ridiculously heavy 372 pound mirror to my car.
Remember that, Steph? 🙂
Come to think of it, I haven’t seen her since then.
Stephanie, I promise if I ever see you in person again, I won’t make you carry heavy things.
Unless its really, really cheap at Canton.
My next project? Decorating this entry.
No I haven’t finished the girls’ room yet, but I really like to start new projects while 10 others are still unfinished. That’s just how I roll. So if you have any help or advice to offer, comment away.
So this Big Girl sitting in my table…..is a Big Girl because she wore Elmo panties to school today. Today is her first day to wear Big Girl panties to school. She’s pretty much mastered it at home, but I was too nervous to send her to school with nothing but a thin layer of cotton protecting poor Mrs. Teresa’s floor.
I’m praying for sanity for Mrs. Teresa today.
Poor Mrs. Teresa.
But I guess I can’t really call her Baby A anymore since she’s big.
Before I get ahead of myself I guess I should see how this day plays out with the Big Girl panties before I change her name just yet….
Have you noticed the new addition to my blog? Up there, on the top left? Its my lonely little group of followers. Just like high school, I’m grateful to have two friends, but I sure would like a few more.
I’m feeling a little lonely here today what with my two girls back at school after spring break, and only my two friends to keep me company. (sigh).
So if you want to make my day, could ya please just follow me? I’m not asking you to go to prom with me, or sit with me in the cafeteria or anything.
Unless you just want to…
