I know this post is a little late seeing as how July is almost OVER, but I finally had a few minutes in between hairbow orders to post some pictures! We had a fun, fun day at some friends’ fabulous lakehouse on July 4th. The little ones enjoyed the slip-n-slide and plastic kiddie pool….
Swimming in the lake was fun…..
A cute picture of our friend Mallory 🙂
Then the kids dried off and played a game of hide-and-seek in the house. I think KB *CLEARLY* wins the prize for the best hiding spot:
(….and my friends said, “You can tell she doesn’t live in a house with boys! She would NEVER want to be on the floor next to the potty!!!”)
We had hot dogs…
Among many, many other fat grams! LOL. I don’t even want to THINK about how many Weight Watchers points we put away that day….including enough chips to feed a small country, and of course the homemade ice cream!! You can’t have July 4th without homemade ice cream!
An evening boat ride….
Baby A’s first boat ride! She inherited KB’s old lifejacket, because Sissy got to get a fancy new Disney Princess one. She had NO fear, and I had to hold on tight to keep her from diving headfirst into the ‘bubbles’ at the back of the boat!
Then we ended a fun day with fireworks over the lake, and sparklers for the kids. Happy Birthday USA! 🙂

Then last weekend, we headed to Longview for the annual East Texas Balloon Race to watch the Balloon Glow. It is SOOOOOOOO much fun!! One of those things we do each year “for the kids,” then we end up having as much fun as they do!! KB was asleep before we hit Loop 323 heading out of town (you never see this kid without a dog!)
No trip to Longview is complete without a dinner at our FAVORITE Cajun place!
Notice anything missing here? We’re keeping the tooth fairy busy lately!!
Some low-flying balloons overhead on our way to the airport grounds….
Great seats for the live music and balloon show! It was SOOOOOOOOO hot before the sun went down, but we didn’t mind!
Some vintage aircraft flew over:
Then the skydivers were really cool to watch. Though why anybody would want to voluntarily fling their own body out of an airplane is beyond me. I get the heebie-jeebies just looking over the balcony in my own house.
The first balloon begins to inflate!
The sun comes down and more balloons come up, including the Purple People Eater and Felix the Cat who Baby A was convinced was Mickey Mouse.
This is what is called the Balloon Glow….. if you haven’t been its really sort of breathtaking to see all the balloons lit up against the dark sky. We loved it!
And one by one, the balloons deflate, along with the batteries in my camera.
That is so funny , we were there too. Were you there on Fri. or Sat. I love the balloon race.:) Hey have ya’ll ever been to Pigeon Forge Tn. We are thinking of going in Nov. Just wondering .
That’s so cool I’ve never seen ballons race !
Those are some great posts, MF! And we DID have some chips that day now, didn’t we??

I LOVE the neon Michelob sign behind KB. Of course, I meant to notice her missing tooth first thing.

That Baby A was really flashing some smiles on that Longview trip. She is a CHARMER!
Ha ha….I was so busy looking at the gap in her teeth that I didn’t notice the beer signs in the background when I first posted this. Just to clear things up….we weren’t actually AT a bar with our kids, it was on the other side of that wall, but it does look like we are RIGHT THERE, doesn’t it! 😉
