Two and a half weeks into homeschooling.
Its gone sort of well.
Sort of.
Until Monday this week, when someone decided to test the waters and pretend she didn’t know how to add one-digit numbers.
Then yesterday, when reading was too hard.
And then again today, when she forgot how to spell a few 3-letter words.
You know, like cat.
I’ve threatened her every day this week to getcha, getcha head in the game or you’re going back to public school. Yesterday I told her she had one more chance and then strike three…. and you’re out, sister.
Back to school. For real, I mean it.
And then we went to pick up her friend from school yesterday afternoon to take them both to art class…. its our Tuesday routine, and gives KB a chance to wave to some old friends & teachers out the window.
And after I sat in this for 15 minutes suddenly I knew. 
I’ve been set free from the drive-through line. Praise the Lord. And I’m not going back.
No way, no how.
But we’ll just let that be our little secret, ok?
I am the QUEEN of the threat with no real backing. As in, "If you don't get your homework done, I am taking away your Nintendo DS before we go on our trip." As IF I have any intention of taking away the one thing that keeps me sane and avoids the sighs and "how long until we are there?" non-stop questions. Speaking as another rookie new homeschooling mom I can 100% understand. Sometimes I think how easy the moms have it with kids in public school and how they have so much more time to get things done. Then I remember how I had to get up at 5:30Am in order to get them ready for the school bus while they cried and walked about like zombies, how the school always needed for the parents to buy this for
Hang in there! We have days and assignments like that, too!! But I encourage them to finish the task so we can move on to something else they might enjoy more or before the assignment I know might cause some frutration, I offer a reward… time to play a game, painting, outside time or our favorite a piece of candy.<br /><br />I really have been encouraged to have a Christ-focued heart through
Hang in there girl!! 🙂 We still have days that are like that and we're in our 4th year of homeschooling! While there are moments I would be happy to put them on the bus, there are so many more that make it ALL worthwhile!
You can do it! From a mom who knew better than to take her precious kids to the public school every day. But, that was what we did! Expected, and accepted. All my kids are bright, not super intelligent, above average, but not rocket scientist. Yet the public school almost squashed my middle child. Oh dear….I homeschooled for 14 years…loved every single minute of our quiet simple homeschooled life.<br /><br />I am now the one driving and waiting in traffic and lines at school.<br /><br />I like homeschooling better.<br /><br />Katie was tired the other morning…and I told her…if you homeschooled you could stay in your jammies until 9:30.
