Well, our Ten Year Anniversary came and went last week, and I haven’t posted any sentimental pictures chronicalling the joys of the past 10 years, like I intended to! Honestly that’s just because I’m a little lazy; most of those pics were pre-digital-camera and I’ll have to scan and upload each and every one of them! So, I’m saving that for if and when I ever get caught up on hairbow orders. Which looks like around 3 am sometime in 2048. But meanwhile, enjoy one of the songs from our wedding video. 🙂
In lieu of the 10 year photo montage, I thought I’d give you what I know you’re all *dying* to see (ha ha): more before and after pictures!
This is Big Sis’ room BEFORE:
I’m not sure WHY there was so much stuff in here; did they LIVE this way, I wonder, or was this just the cleaning-out-of-the-estate process?? Either way, this room was so full that we couldn’t tell until they moved the stuff out that there was actual ENGLISH IVY growing ON THE WALLS of this room. (You can kind of see it peeking around the curtain in the second picture). Yep, right through the window frame. The wallpaper must have been original, from 1929 when the house was built. It was a single layer of wallpaper glued to decaying cheesecloth which was stapled to (I forgot what its called….boards nailed to the studs.)
Its unbelievable the amount of stuff that comes raining down into your hair and eyelashes when you pull down 80 year old wallpaper!! Its a good thing rats and rat poop and roaches don’t cause disease….
So now for the AFTER pics:
I tried, but my camera just will not cooperate in this room! The walls are painted a gorgeous shade of watermelon (believe me…it really is cute!!) but for some reason my camera sees it as “neon orange.” So, these two pictures taken in the semi-dark will have to do, OR just come visit in person. 🙂
We refinished the hardwood floors, sheetrocked, added built-in shelves for the extensive beanie baby collection, molding and a new ceiling fan, and then all the hot pink and apple green we could find! There’s no mistaking who sleeps in THIS room!
OH! Her room is ADORABLE! Great job. *shhh* I’ve never even painted before! I grew up w/ paneling. (I know, don’t laugh!) And the houses I’ve lived in since just never needed painted.
You did a beautiful job. Good work!
Thanks! I used to know how to paint but after this house, I’m conveniently ‘forgetting’ how. I think I’ve done my share! :P
I’ll put a professional painter on speed dial. 🙂
I love it! Wanna come help with my house? LOL
So sweet, i luv girly stuffs.
I LOVE this bedroom – just perfect! I love it so much :)

btw – i just found your blog today 🙂
Oh WOW! You've done an amazing job!! I love before and after pictures.
