Sunday Singing and Trusting His Heart.

Melissa Beene Ford/ Uncategorized

It seems like I’m surrounded by heartache lately. That’s the life of a single person I guess; many of my friends are single (and not by their own choice), and the painful truth is that ‘single’ often goes hand in hand with ‘heartache.’

I’ve been talking with a good friend over the past few days who is in that boat… single, and heartbroken over a recent breakup. My heart hurts for this friend and I wish I could make it better.

I can’t.

But I do know that
1. God has a plan, and
2. that the low points in our lives are by His design to draw us closer to Him.

This song by Babbie Mason was shared with me by my wise-beyond-her-years friend Myrandi way back in high school when I was bawling my eyes out over a silly 17-year-old boy. My agony over that scrawny kid seems so laughable now, particularly when I look back at pictures from that era, but the lyrics are just as wise and true now as they were when my friend wrote them to me on that note passed to me in Chemistry class so many years ago.

All things work for our good
Though sometimes we can’t see how they could
Struggles that break our hearts in two
Sometimes blind us to the truth
Our Father knows what’s best for us
His ways are not our own
So when your pathway grows dim
And you just can’t see him,
Remember He’s still on the throne

Chorus:

God is too wise to be mistaken
God is too good to be unkind
So when you don’t understand
When you don’t see his plan
When you can’t trace his hand
Trust His Heart

He sees the master plan
He holds the future in his hand,
Don’t live as those who have no hope,
While our hope is found in him.
We see the present clearly
But he sees the first and last
And like a tapestry, He’s weaving you and me,
To someday be just like him

(Chorus)

He alone is faithful and true
He alone knows what is best for you

(Chorus)

When you can’t trace his hand
When you don’t see his plan
When you don’t understand
Trust His Heart

We only see the present, but GOD KNOWS the first and the last.

How comforting is that?
