That’s What We Call Fun.

Melissa Beene Ford/ Katie

My girls are gone for two weeks, and I don’t quite know what to do with myself… but before they left, we crammed as much fun into our weekend as we could.
Starting with haircuts. Because hair appointment day is the BEST day ever.

The shampoo earned the Annie Face award, and I get it: Having your hair washed is one of the best experiences, ever.
 Katie Beth’s chic new ‘do…

 And Annie’s.

Freckles, Freckles, beautiful Freckles….. doesn’t this face just melt your heart?

The kids had a doctor’s appointment (not part of the ‘fun’ per se, but necessary), and they practiced giving shots while we waited.

Then, a trip to Toys R Us, where we decided that Zeke from High School Musical needed some new clothes, what with him running around our apartment naked all the time.

And Zeke is one super-fly dude in his new clothes…. it only gave him more confidence with the ladies.

We watched Enchanted while the Barbies danced to all the music.

Annie, future chef, joined me in the kitchen while I cooked and cleaned. Oh, she did her share of both, too… as evidenced by the batter I’m still cleaning from under the bottom of the cabinets….

We made Homemade Oreos. The outside….

 …the filling…

 …and the finished product. Mmmmmmmmmm-MMMMM!

We made pancakes. Its our weekend tradition. Only these turned out blue…. we were out of milk, so I got creative and used Blueberry Kefir. They didn’t look so good, but they were yummy!

We made gourmet macaroni and cheese with organic cheese and organic cream with deliciousness all over.

We walked through the park next door to our apartments…..

…and since it was about 172* that day, the Andy’s was EXTRA heavenly. How convenient is it that there’s a frozen custard shop RIGHT THERE at the end of the walking trails?!

Per the weekend tradition, more pancakes. Only this time we made Oatmeal Sour Cream pancakes with Cinnamon Honey Butter. OHHHHHHHHHH my….. they don’t look like much, but they were FaBuLouSiTy.

We ate at *our* place… Casa Ole… after church on Sunday. Green sauce and crazy eyes are ALWAYS on the menu.

We spent lots of time at the apartment pool. Katie swam, and Annie and I brought books to read. Yes, she brought the Cake Pops cookbook to study. No silly children’s books for her….

Super fun weekend with my two favorite people!
