The first day of school went off without a hitch.
Without any tears, even. Well, except my own...
To be honest… they were almost… EXCITED about it.
I think it was mostly the new clothes.
New clothes make you look forward to ANY event, even school… especially when you’re rockin’ animal print pants outta control, or Miss Me jeans that Katie got for modeling at Cavender’s.
Oh yes. We were hip and fly for the first day of school, for sure.
Annie was just happy not to be going back to kindergarten. “All you do in kindergarten is WORK,” she said, “…. all those CENTERS you have to go to, and COLORING….”
Katie, the mature fifth-grade voice of experience, was quick to set her straight, in her driest, most sarcastic voice… {I have no idea where she gets that…}
“ANNIE. WHAT do you think you’re going to be doing in the REST of the grades? WORK.” {Big exaggerated sigh topped off with an eye-roll}
So here’s to a great year of first grade with the fabulous Mrs. Bowie.
Katie’s teacher is Mrs. Williams. Mrs. Williams wanted a picture of the two of them shaking hands, I guess to show that fifth grade will be ALL business…. no coloring or centers here.
“MOM,” she said, in her driest, most sarcastic voice {I have no idea where she gets that}, “Can you STOP taking PICTURES sometime today?!?!”
She didn’t really say that. I just read it on her face.
Sorry. I just can’t believe my BABY is in FIFTH GRADE. Her LAST YEAR of elementary school. *wipes tear *sniffles
I have a feeling this year is gonna be great.
Well, as long as Mrs. Bowie doesn’t make Annie do any work… you know, like coloring.
