In honor of Mother’s Day, I thought of a few things things that you can ONLY appreciate when you become a mom…. you know, those things childless people swear they won’t ever do…
Yes, I know Mother’s Day was days ago, but I have a multitude of perfectly good reasons why I was late posting this. Number one being that I might possibly need some ADD medication. I have a friend who tells me that often. Oh, who am I kidding… they ALL tell me that…
I totally stole this idea from Kristy Tolley, just so you know.
Here are my own Top Ten:
10. That OCD you used to have about your car and keeping it show-room-floor perfect? Gone. Now, you only clean it out when the spoiled milk odor finally gets to you because there’s a cup of it somewhere in there beneath the toys rolling around on the floorboard…
9. That OCD you used to have about keeping your furniture immaculate? Gone. Now, if someone spills yogurt on the couch, it doesn’t even disturb you when its still there a week later.
8. You take showers with Barbies wrapped around your ankles. And it doesn’t even really annoy you any more that your shower is knee-deep in toys.
7. You know which Disney Princess wears the yellow dress, which Wiggle wears the red shirt, and you catch yourself watching their shows even when they’re not home.
6. When your children are spending the night somewhere else, just the sight of their empty beds causes real pain in your heart.
5. You look forward all week to your GNO with your best friends, only to get homesick for your kids the moment you pull out of the driveway.
4. You catch yourself wearing jewelry made of yarn and plastic beads. In public. And not only do you wear it, you’re kinda proud of it.
3. Toots, poop, and underwear are THE FUNNIEST subjects EVER.
2. You’re late to work and miss the mandatory meeting just because your child wants to be held for 30 minutes. And it doesn’t even cross your mind not to.
1. Your life is not your own. And you wouldn’t have it any other way.
